Hawn State Park
Hawn State Park is one of Missouri's most beautiful and unspoiled landscapes, a superb example of the eastern Ozark sandstone country. The 4,953- acre park contains lush stands of native pines and hardwoods and a generous understory of dogwood, redbud and wild azalea. A 10-mile backpacking trail leads visitors through pine forests and along Pickle Creek and the River Aux Vases.

Greensfelder Park Stables and Campgrounds
Greensfelder Park is St. Louis County's largest park. Laying at the foothills of the gently rolling Ozark mountain range, it features lovely shaded trails and spectacular views, horse boarding, equestrian and group camping, hayrides, trails, nature learning center, picnic sites and shelters, playground and trim orienteering course. Take the Allenton/Six Flags exit north of Hwy 44 and travel one mile to Hencken Road.

Meramec State Park
The park includes the gorge of the Meramec River, springs and more than 30 caves. Fisher Cave tours are given daily. Hike into the Meramec Upland Forest Natural Area featuring an old-growth, oak- hickory forest. The park's campground borders the spring-fed
Meramec River. It has 170 basic campsites and 80 improved campsites, and 18 cabins. The park has a dining lodge, a general store, canoe rentals and a visitor center.
